Paradox acquires Conan rights
The Swedish studio gets an option to purchase all game, movie, and book rights for the Conan franchise.
Paradox Entertainment has acquired 20 percent of Conan Sales Company, which holds all rights to the Conan franchise made famous by the Conan the Barbarian and Conan the Destroyer movies of the '80s and the Conan television series of the '90s. The deal means that Paradox will play a part in on-going licensing partnerships, including a film deal with Warner, a games license for TDK, and a book publishing agreement with TOR.
"The potential in the Conan character, stories, and fan base is huge," said Theodore Bergquist, CEO of Paradox. "We plan to increase licensing activities immediately in all media, including newly written books, comics, and computer games."
