STOCKHOLM — 13 December 2024 — Steamforged Games, leading studio for tabletop video game adaptations, is proud to announce an upcoming crowdfunding campaign for the official tabletop adaptation of Hearts of Iron, the iconic World War II strategy video game franchise created by Paradox Interactive.

Since its debut, Hearts of Iron has captivated gamers through its multi-layered gameplay, historical depth, and the freedom for players to experiment with and play out alternative timelines, with more than 200,000 positive reviews on Steam. Created in close collaboration with the Paradox team, the upcoming board game faithfully adapts these elements, offering players a chance to lead their nations to victory—or infamy—via diplomacy, warfare, and politics

Designed for 2-5 players to play out an entire war in a single 3-4 hour session, the boardgame features multiple playable nations that players can customise through their ideology, either faithfully recreating or changing the course of history, all while engaging in political maneuvering and large-scale combat to re-draw the map. The potential nation and ideology combinations give the game a significant amount of replayability.

Known for immersive gameplay across an expansive library of titles, Steamforged Games is a proven force in adapting video game franchises for the tabletop. The Steamforged Games library already includes major licensed video game properties such as Elden Ring, Monster Hunter: World, Dark Souls, and Horizon Zero Dawn™.

Together with Paradox Interactive’s long history of developing grand strategy games, this partnership promises to deliver a tabletop experience as rich and engaging as its digital counterpart.

Mat Hart, co-founder and CCO of Steamforged Games, said: “We’re big strategy gamers at Steamforged, so when we got the opportunity to work with Paradox on turning Hearts of Iron—quite possibly the grandest of strategy video games—into a board game, we couldn’t say yes fast enough! This is set to be our most strategic board game yet, and we can’t wait to share it with fans. Paradox have been excellent to work with and we’re confident this game will please not only Hearts of Iron fans, but fans of strategic board and video games as well.”

Steamforged will launch Hearts of Iron: the Board Game on Gamefound early next year. Fans of tabletop gaming and historical strategy can look forward to more details shared via the campaign’s Gamefound page in the coming weeks. Those who follow the Gamefound page before launch will also receive an exclusive gift — a First Player token in the form of a metal medal, and an exclusive card pack —if they pledge once the campaign launches.
