AHD DD14 – Mapmodes
Time for the first (written) and last AHD DD of 2012! This time it's about the new mapmodes we have added. This is exciting stuff, so without further ado we'll check out the first one:
RGO output.
This one is fairly simple, you select a province and it highlights all the other provinces with the same RGO good. Wondering where to send your armies to “acquire” new sources of specific goods? This is the mapmode for you!

Population density.
This shows how populated provinces are within each nation. Note that all nations are only comparing internal population, so a green state in China or India might still have a lot of pops.

Nationality.
Here we can see the culture of pops in provinces. They are striped to show if a sizable minority is present (over 30% of the total).

Spheres of influence.
This one has two functions. If you select a country it will show the SoI of that country, the master being Green, SoI pets are yellow and Blue are influenced but not in the SoI. Blue or yellow nations are striped red if another nation is influencing them. But if you don't select any nation it shows everyone's SoIs by colouring them with the Sphere-master's colour.

Supply limit.
Oddly enough, this mapmode shows supply limits. It also has two functions. With no army selected it shows general supply limits for your troops in the world, green being the best and red the worst. If you select an army it shows supply limits relative to that army, green are provinces were it would be fine, yellow are marginal, and red are ones where it would take attrition.

Party loyalty.
Can you guess? Yes! This mapmode shows each provinces party loyalty. Look at all that Liberal yellow in Germany while the UK is mostly Conservative with a few Socialist areas.

Ranking.
Coloured by National ranking this mapmode shows GPs in green, secondary powers in blue, civilised nations in yellow and uncivilised in red.

Migration.
No, not the Communist world revolution, all this red just means that people are migrating out of Europe, although for some reason Krakow is popular with Chinese immigrants. Another nice feature is that if you select a province with high migration levels you will get arrows showing you where people are moving to/from.

Civilisation level.
Green nations are civilised, while totally uncivilised nations are black and shade through yellow to green as they advance towards westernisation. Here you can see Japan has started the progress, while Burma and Brunei have made smaller steps.

Relations.
Last, but not least, we have the Relations mapmode. By default it colours countries by how they feel about you, but if you click on someone else it changes to show their relations. Here you can see Germany seems to be on nice terms with the UK and Central Europe, while France and Russia seem hostile, how strange.

Tank time!
First we have the Saint-Chamond. Originally intended to be similar to the Schneider CA, but was modified to have a longer hull in order to mount a larger gun.
Our last tank is the M1917, an American copy of the French FT-17. It may have been said in an earlier DD, but the FT-17 was the first tank with a top mounted rotating turret, the design which almost all future tanks would use.
