HISTORICAL BACKGROUND/TIMELINE:
The following timeline lists what has transpired across the globe and shows the events that have brought war to the United States.
1931
* Winston Churchill is run over by a car in New York City and dies the next day.
1936
* F.D.R. decides not to seek re-election due to health concerns. Joseph Kennedy wins the U.S. Presidential election on an isolationist's platform.
1939
* Sept -- Germany conquers Poland. The Soviet Union moves into the Baltic States, Eastern Poland and Moldavia in accordance with the Nazi-Soviet Non-Aggression Pact.
* Dec -- Soviet Union and Japan clash near the Manchurian border.
1940
* Apr -- Germany invades and conquers Denmark and Norway.
* May -- Germany invades France and the Low Countries. Adolph Hitler denies Herman Goering's request to allow the Luftwaffe to destroy the trapped Allied troops around Dunkirk; the German army does the job.
* June -- Italy declares war on France and England. Germany conquers France and captures the entire French fleet intact.
* July -- Under intense pressure from Hitler, Franco's Spain joins the Axis and occupies Gibraltar after a brief fight with the British garrison.
* Aug -- German air blitz over England destroys the RAF.
* Sept -- Germany invades England with the help of the Italian Fleet. Italians move into Alexandria, Egypt.
* Nov -- With the captures of London, Bristol and Birmingham, England surrenders. Chamberlain leads the German controlled English government. The remaining RAF planes flee to Canada with a few HMS ships departing to Australia. The remaining fleet is either captured or scuttled by their Captains. President Kennedy narrowly wins re-elections, proclaims "...the U.S. will spend its money on welfare and not weapons".
1941
* Jan -- Europe endures the harshest winter thus far this century. First signs of civil unrest in Siberian cities as people begin to starve. Pro-Nazi coup in Brazil. New Brazilian government requests German intervention to help restore peace. American threats to enforce the Monroe doctrine fall on deaf ears and America is powerless to stop the Germans.
* Feb – First German troops disembark at Rio de Janeiro. Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria join the Axis.
* Mar -- Germany and Italy invade and conquer Yugoslavia and Greece.
* Apr -- German troops March into Baghdad. U.S. reinforces Panama.
* May -- Australia takes over the role as head of the Commonwealth in the Pacific. British troops in the Pacific are now under Australian control.
* June -- Germany occupies Iceland and the Azores.
* Oct -- Soviet civil unrest now spreads throughout the country. Stalin looks for ways to feed the masses.
* Nov -- Stalin begins crackdown on military for failing to put down the now nationwide riots. Stalin is assassinated. A military government is installed with pro-West leanings.
* Dec -- First U.S. humanitarian aid shipments arrive in Murmansk, Leningrad and Vladivostok. Kennedy signs the "Christmas" Non-Aggression Pact with Hitler in Berlin. The American President is quoted as saying "Worldwide peace is just around the corner".
1942
* Jan -- Japan launches surprise attack on Pearl Harbor and destroys several Battleships but misses the U.S. carrier fleet which was away on maneuvers. U.S. supply convoy headed for Vladivostok is destroyed, presumably by Japanese subs. U.S. initiates mobilization and draft.
* Feb -- Russia invades Sakhalin Island and Manchuria. Japan occupies Wake and Midway Island. Invasion force headed for the Philippines is re-routed to Manchuria. Commonwealth declares war on Japan.
* Apr -- Japanese air attacks on Russian armored columns have a devastating effect. U.S. sends more troops to the Philippines. U.S. transfers portion of Atlantic fleet to Pearl Harbor. Canada also sends some of its Atlantic fleet to assist Australia. Australia occupies French Indo-China. Coming to the aid of its new Japanese ally, Germany occupies Newfoundland with no resistance. Russia, unable to sustain its offensive signs an armistice with Japan. The US places its two active WWI remnant infantry divisions on alert.
* May -- With the added French and Italian fleets, Germany invades the United States.
GAME NOTES:
Consequences:
The taking of U.S. cities by the Axis will have a negative cumulative effect on the U.S. supply and replacements. In addition to the loss of valuable National Guard units that appear in their states major cities throughout the game, a loss of supply and/or replacements will occur as major cities are taken. Cities worth noting are New York, Washington D.C., Detroit, Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Denver. The loss of both Washington D.C. and Denver can cause the game to abruptly end with an Axis victory.
Naval Warfare:
In a two player game, this could get very interesting. Destroying your opponent’s naval units will severely hurt his supply and replacements; but, losing your naval units will have the opposite affect. So, your choices are duke it out and hope you win, hit and run (which will hurt a unit but rarely destroy it) or run and hide. For the Axis player, your naval units can supply some much-needed offshore bombardment. But, is it worth the risk? Destroying the US naval units will increase your supply and replacements, and you really could use this increase. The total elimination of either side’s naval units will have a big effect on Axis supply and replacements one way or the other.

http://www.pic-upload.de/04.08.08/qc83l4.jpg (http://www.pic-upload.de/view-857810/Anfangstruppen-1.jpg.html)
